FROM PORTUGAL RETURNS TO SALT LAKE CITY

The main players from the outdoor sporting goods industry are scheduled to meet from 3 to 6 August, for yet another edition of Outdoor Retailer, which is being organised in Salt Lake City, in the US. The Portuguese delegation is composed of three Portuguese companies – Artefita – Faria da Costa – Nordstark – that are travelling to the American continent supported by Associação Selectiva Moda, as part of the From Portugal international project.

From 3 to 6 August, Salt Lake City will host the latest edition of Outdoor Retailer, an event that is the largest outdoor sports fair outside Europe, with the participation of the world’s main players in this area. Three Portuguese companies – Artefita - Faria da Costa and Nordstark – will be travelling there as part of this year’s Portuguese delegation, led by Associação Selectiva Moda, as part of the From Portugal project.

A frequent participant in this event, Faria da Costa will be taking part for the fourth time, and for the second time as part of the From Portugal project. “It will be our fourth time and as we have been attracting increasing amounts of customers, our expectations are high”, said Nuno Costa, the company’s manager. On display will be woollen items suited to difficult climates, as well as cotton items with modern designs and sublimation printed socks.

“The choice of this fair was made based on the quality of the participating customers and exhibitors, which result in many contacts and collaborations, together with the excellent organisation and technical capacity of the fair”, said Inês Brito, from Nordstark, which is returning to Salt Lake City. They will be highlighting bonded garments, which react and adapt to climatic conditions in order to optimise physical exercise. “Although this is a market that goes through a profound change every now and then, Nordstark has remained up to date on trends, paying close attention to consumer requirements, which is why we feel that our expectations are exceeded every year”, she added.

The participation of 3 Portuguese companies in another Outdoor Retailer event is organised by From Portugal 2015-2016, an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda Association and by ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Association of Textiles and Clothing of Portugal), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal 2015-2016 project is financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation. The value of eligible support totals EUR 13,051,072.83 of which EUR 7,210,717.74 are provided by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
