The 33rd International Lingerie and Swimwear Show opens its doors from July 9 to July 11, taking place this year in Lyon. Ekena Bay – Fitor – Iora Lingerie – are the three Portuguese companies participating in Mode City, with the support of Selectiva Moda Association, where they will present their offerings for the hot 2017 season.

With the final match of the European cup scheduled for 10th July in Paris, Eurovet decided to move this year’s edition of Mode City to Lyon. The Portuguese companies are leaving for this fair with many surprises up their sleeves, new palettes of colours and innovative materials which will determine next year’s hot season fashion trends in swimwear, lingerie and sleepwear.

As a usual participant in this fair, Iora Lingerie will present «a more versatile, more modern and more youthful collection, adapted to current tendencies » asserts Cristina Flores, company manager. «This is the best fair in the area of lingerie internationally», she adds.

On the other hand, Ekena Bay makes its debut at Mode City. The Parisienne fair will be the stage for the presentation of the 2017 Spring/Summer collection. The collection is comprised of 4 lines, with bikinis, trikinis and bathing suits for all tastes, with special emphasis on its haute couture line, appropriately named, COUTURE. «France, because of its capital – Paris – is considered by many to be the European fashion capital. Therefore, it is a destination of excellence for exportations of our brand, not only because of is magnitude, but especially because being present in France is the unequivocal recognition of the fashion, design and quality of Ekena Bay’s swimwear », explains António Chorosa, international sales manager. «The scale and international exposure of the event foresees an increased and diversified flow of visitors from across the globe. The result of our participation in the Cannes fair last year in September was so positive that we just had to participate in Mode City. We hope that orders result from the contacts we make at the fair, not only for France, but for other European markets as well, helping us to continue our internationalisation process», he adds.

Regularly present at the fair, Fitor has also returned to Mode City. «The French market is very important to our company. That is why we are regularly present at this fair. With our participation this year, our objective is to consolidate and expand our sales in this market», reveals António Pereira, the company’s CEO. Among the products exhibited this year, special emphasis is given to fancy threads, patterned threads, as well as other threads with characteristics of elevated quality and functionality. «We have high expectations and we are in the process of making a series of contacts which will help make our presence known to potential visitors and clients», he highlights.

In the last edition of Mode City, there were 420 brands with exhibits, from 41 countries and it received approximately 26 thousand visitors, over the course of three days.

The participation of the 3 Portuguese companies in one more Mode City edition is an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association, co-financed by the EU Structural and Investment Funds as part of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation (POCI), Portugal 2020 and COMPETE 2020. The FROM PORTUGAL project is made up of approximately 81 international activities which take place in the second half of 2015 and in 2016, covering the entire textile and fashion industry and spread over four continents, with a total investment of over 13 million euros.
