The London sourcing fair, now in its 6th edition, will receive ten Portuguese companies - Barata Garcia S.A. - CLS - Custoitex - Faria da Costa - Gulbena Têxteis - Lightwear - Lopes&Carvalho Lda - Marfel - Orfama - Vandoma - as part of an initiative by the Selectiva Moda Association, under the From Portugal internationalisation project. The event is attended by more than 100 companies, from more than fifteen countries, namely United Kingdom, France, Italy, Lithuania, Russia, Macedonia, Spain, Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Tunisia, Peru, Poland and Turkey. It is mainly targeted at those wishing to purchase services directly from the manufacturers.

Slim-fit fashion jackets, with anatomical shoulders and highly stylised details and accessories, but also classic, “British look” jackets are the order of the day for CLS-Confecções Luso-Sueco. «We decided to take part in this trade fair as part of our decision to expand even more into the British market, where we already have plenty of experience and where, we believe, that our products, particularly the jackets, are very popular among buyers. Our sales strategy has led to increased exports, and having decided to focus on certain target countries, the English market is part of this plan» explained Camilo Rueff, head of the company. «Our forecast is to expand in this particular market, and we hope to win some new medium/high level clients», he added.

Custoitex will be presenting its Autumn/Spring 2016-17 collection of tights, underwear and outer clothing, and seamless sports clothing. «This is a market that has lots of empathy with the Portuguese products, and we have high expectations», said Mónica Morais, development/export manager of the company.

Shiny viscose fabrics with blends of lurex, blends with cotton/silk, bamboo, cashmere and models with unique jacquard motifs worked with very fine threads, are some of the highlights taken to London by Orfama. «The aim of this participation is to win new clients, as this is a strategic market with good potential for growth, therefore it makes sense for us to be present», indicated António Cunha, sales area manager of the company. «We will present the new collection with the aim of offering to clients a large dose of inspiration to help them develop their own collections, which without doubt, is a factor of competitive advantage», he added.

Attending the event for the second time, Vandoma presents its range of products, such as ties, bows, handkerchiefs, and scarves, and its collection of ties for summer 2017. «The English market is an important market for our company, and our strategy is to consolidate our presence in this country. We are very confident about our second participation at this event», said Ana Sousa, manager of the company.

This year’s Fashion SVP presents growth of around 40% and includes a vast program of “Sourcing Briefing” seminars, with the presence of renowned orators, where various themes relating to current trends in the sector will be revealed. This year’s fair has a new area – Innovation Focus – presenting the latest news on 3D printing.

The participation of the ten Portuguese companies in one more SVP edition is an initiative promoted by the Selectiva Moda Association, co-financed by the EU Structural and Investment Funds as part of the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation (POCI), Portugal 2020 and COMPETE 2020. The FROM PORTUGAL project is made up of approximately 81 international activities which take place in the second half of 2015 and in 2016, covering the entire textile and fashion industry and spread over four continents, with a total investment of over 13 million euros.
