From the 4th to the 7th of May, nineteen Portuguese companies will be travelling to Frankfurt to attend Techtextil, the leading international technical textiles and non-wovens trade show. This initiative is promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda, within the internationalisation project From Portugal, supported by NSRF.

Techtextil has over 1300 exhibitors from 48 countries and around 27,500 visitors from 97 countries, making it a central platform for users and manufacturers to market and supply technical textiles and non-woven textiles for the entire world. A series of international business contacts will be made between 4 and 7 May at the innovation centre in Frankfurt am Main.

In this edition, Portugal will be represented by 19 companies: A Penteadora, A. Sampaio & Filhos, Artefita, CeNTI, Coltec, Cordex, Endutex Revestimentos, ERT, Faria da Costa, Fisipe, Fitexar, Fitor, Gulbena, Heliotextil, Idepa, Lipaco, Manifesto Moda, Smart Inovation, and Têxteis Penedo.

As Helder Rosendo, CITEVE sub director, said, “portuguese technical textiles will have a massive presence in Frankfurt during the next edition of Techtextil. 19 textile companies plus the technological testing and research institute – CITEVE, will showcase the best of the Portuguese offer regarding technical textiles, along 5 exhibition spots, placed in hall 3.1 (B23) and hall 6.1 (C10, C19 and C18). Visit us and see how Portuguese technical textiles combine performance with design and functionality for the most demanding application and markets.”

Techtextil forms part of the calendar of Lipaco due to the importance of the German market for the company and also the diversity of customers who visit the fair.
At this fair the company will present sewing threads and textured yarn. The highlight will be "highly elastic polyester yarn and polyamides aimed at the sock industry," said Jorge Pereira, CEO of the company.
Lipaco intends to continue to strengthen its image in the international market and obtain important contacts with the aim of consolidating sales in foreign markets.

Smart Inovation is characterised as a technologically innovative company. It is exhibiting at this fair for the first time, showing various solutions for the textile industry aimed at the functionalisation of materials, in particular the insect repellents Si Repel Mosquitos, Si House mites and Si Bactericide.
Its products are, according to the company itself, highly durable and easy to apply, non-toxic, biocompatible, cost effective and eco-friendly.
The expectations of Smart Inovation are "worldwide disclosure of our unique and innovative technology, and the dissemination of our products", as well as "focusing on personal contact, promoting sales and increasing the portfolio of customers," according to Mário Brito, Chief Networking Officer of the company.

The Techtextil fair is a meeting of the technical textiles sector of significant scale, which has enabled Cordex - repeating its presence through its Cordexpro brand - to reach potential new European customers as well as other markets such as Asia or the Middle East.
“Our goals for this fair include, besides the permanent search for new markets and new customers, strengthening and consolidating ties with our current customers, evaluating the market and competition, being attentive to the growth of the sector in these areas of the world, and evaluating the new technologies and machines presented at the fair," states Rui Vieira, Marketing manager of Cordex. Among the highlight products that will be presented at Techtextil, the company bases and strengthens its focus on polypropylene multifilament yarn for security-based technical textile applications or as a raw material of significant importance to the cement reinforcement industry.
Cordex hopes to not only leverage a significant number of new business opportunities, but also to strengthen the brand's presence in this very competitive market.

Fitor continues to exhibit at this fair due to its strong presence across Europe, therefore making it another opportunity to remain in direct contact with its clients. The company produces synthetic fibres with different technical specificities and so it considers that this is the correct fair to exhibit its products. The company will present polyesters and polyamides with various technical features, including those that stimulate blood circulation, and provide coolness, warmth, lightness, anti-bacterial , dry-release, melange and patterned properties. The company has great expectations due to "favourable market conditions and in the textile sector in particular," states António Pereira, CEO of the company.

Têxteis Penedo is exhibiting at Frankfurt for the first time, with new Jacquard Fabric technology. The highlight of the products to be exhibited is fabrics with light and Deco solutions for furniture. The company hopes its participation will provide contacts for sales in new market niches.

It is a very important fair in the technical/functional knitwear area, which is an important business area for A. Sampaio & Filhos. It is primarily a meeting point for international clients.
The company’s most significant range will be Protection+, aimed at the personal protection and working clothes markets. It will also highlight products aimed at the more technical/functional aspects of the sports market. The company hopes to show the new products to its regular clients, as well as broadening the base of potential new customers in this market segment.

Idepa decided to take part in this fair so it could increasingly focus on value-added markets where product performance requires specific know-how. It is Idepa’s strategy to develop technical product markets. The collection it will exhibit includes sublimated elastics and ribbons, elastic with silicone, orthopaedic elastics, automotive products, and high performance straps. Ana Pires, Marketing Manager of the company, hopes to “be visited by potential clients with interesting projects within the scope of our manufacturing techniques”.

The participation of these 19 Portuguese companies in TECHTEXTIL is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda, with the support of European funds (NSRF), within the From Portugal project, and is part of a series of more than 87 international activities in 2014/2015, covering the entire textile and fashion sector, spread over four continents - Europe, Asia, Africa and America - with a total investment of about 12 million euros.
