Portuguese textiles return to London with new proposals and a wealth of creativity

Portuguese fashion and textiles are back in London, on the 25th and 26th of June, to attend another edition of Fashion SVP, UK’s leading sourcing show. In addition to gathering new customers, the national exhibitors will avail the opportunity to demonstrate the creativity that is the motor of the country’s textile and clothing industry, in the British capital

Eager to close new deals and to take “Made in Portugal” products yet another step further, an ensemble of national textiles is on its way to London, on the following 25th and 26th June, to participate in this year’s edition of Fashion SVP, one of Europe’s top trade fairs for fashion and trends.

Lima & Companhia, Kiddytex, Mário & António and Marjomotex compose the “From Portugal” committee in London, which will be joined by other Portuguese companies such as Orfama and Triwool. During the two days of the event, the entire national delegation will seek to establish new contacts and to reassert the image of Portugal as a country that manufactures clothing and textiles of excellence.

“It’s a great opportunity to advertise our products in the English market”, sums up Mário Coelho, CEO of Mário & António, one of the home textile enterprises present at the fair. At Fashion SVP, the company from Porto will look to conquer their first British customers with their presentation of new designs and textures, applied to items with different materials, namely linen, wool, cotton or cashmere.

In the clothing market, the several Portuguese exhibitors will strive to impress visitors with their new products. As is the case of Marjomotex, which will bring to London a new collection of clothing in denim, knitting, serge and other fabrics, as well as a brand new line of jackets. “We were here last year, we had very interesting clients, and this year we want to follow through on the work done”, explains Mónica Afonso, representative of the Famalicão-based company, owner of the MJM brand.

The presence of Portuguese companies at Fashion SVP is an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda and ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal, directed towards promoting the internationalization of Portuguese fashion enterprises. The “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, in the scope of Compete 2020 – Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amounting to 12.571.412,64 €, of which 6.932.663,71 € are funded by the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund.
