PORTUGUESE FASHION BRANDS SHOWING COLECTIONS IN PARIS

Concreto, Cristina Barros, Lemar and Luís Buchinho are the Portuguese companies that make up the FROM PORTUGAL delegation travelling to the Parisian fashion fairs  Who's Next (September 3rd to 6th), specialized in clothing, and Interfilière (September 3rd September 5th), focused on lingerie and beachwear.

It is the long-awaited return to the face-to-face fashion trade shows in Paris, and despite the reduced size of the fairs, one of the reasons they are taking place simultaneously, Who's Next  and Interfilière are taking back to Porte de Versailles some of the most important clothing, activewear, lingerie and beachwear fashion brands. The Portuguese delegation will seize this opportunity to present the Summer 22 collections.

With fifteen participations in Who’s Next already in the bag, the company Luís Buchinho believes that this edition will be “good to re-establish commercial relations that have been on hold since the beginning of the pandemic”. A perspective shared by Carla Reis, International Sales Agent of the brand, who leaves for Paris with meetings scheduled, both with regular customers and potential new ones. Among these appointments, the agent highlights the importance of the American and Asian markets, which “prefer quality and prestige, and buy more securely, as a result of their high purchasing power”.

Who's Next also feels like home to Concreto, which, having participated in the Parisian fair for a decade now, will travel to this edition with a slightly different offer when it comes to products. “This time, we will be it the Trendy section, and not the Ready to Wear like we used to, which in itself is great news. The fair itself recognized that our bet on a more youthful look was very successful”, considers Teresa Marques Pereira, CEO of the women's brand. As for business deals, Teresa is caution and prefers “not to put extremely high expectations on this return, so that we don’t become too disappointed if the reality is a lot different from what we expected”. However, for the CEO it’s an interesting time to assess which markets will travel to Paris.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in Who's Next and Interfilière is framed by the From Portugal project, an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of € 11,042,311.82, of which € 6,065,501.91 comes from the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund.
