LEMAR’S SUSTAINABLE CATALOGUE AT PREMIÈRE VISION

At Première Vision, the Portuguese company Lemar will present a new line of fabrics, made from recycled polyester, sustainable viscose and recycled and biodegradable polyamide, environmental certificated by suppliers. It’s a new catalogue of sustainable fabrics, for various clothing areas, from swimwear to shirts.

“We are working hard on these fibres, from recycled polyester yarns from European suppliers, such as Seaquall and Newlife, to the biodegradable polyamide Amni Soul Eco or Lenzing's sustainable viscose. We have about 25 new products made from these fibres”, says Flávio Dias, the company’s Export Manager, ensuring that all fabrics are sent to suppliers to obtain the traceability certificate.

Lemar witnessed an increase in the demand for sustainable articles while preparing for Première Vision, which runs from February 15th to 19th, and it is now strengthening its catalogue with greener solutions.

“Customers are very interested. There are brands that were created on sustainable pillars, and the others are gradually replacing traditional fabrics with more sustainable ones”, explains the company representative, admitting that the bet on sustainability was essential during 2020: "I have to say that it is the reason why we have been working so well in these pandemic months".

Lemar's new fabrics are intended for various clothing areas, from beach shorts - one of the core areas of the company's operations - to other clothing items, such as shirts, blouses or jackets. “Some fabrics even have enough weight and consistency to make bags and purses”, reinforces Flávio Dias.

A regular at Première Vision Paris - one of the largest textile fairs in Europe - Lemar is participating in the digital event while waiting for the return of the physical fair. “Our products require to be touched. Designers like to see how the fabric feels, how it performs in a garment, and that component is sorely missed. We are trying to fill that void by sending more samples frequently to our customers”, she explains.

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in PV is framed by the From Portugal project, an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization.
