Portugal will be the centre of attentions at Première Vision Paris next edition. The French capital hosts, from September’s 19th to the 21st, another edition of one of the most important textile fairs in the world. Auspicious days are expected for the Portuguese industry’s commercial aspirations. The vast textile delegation will be accompanied by Eurico Brilhante Dias, the Portuguese Secretary of State for Internationalization, and Nelson de Souza, the Portuguese Secretary of State for Development and Cohesion, that will stroll the event’s corridors in a clear demonstration of support towards the Portuguese industry.

Besides being the "Focus Country" in the fair’s manufacturing sector, a vast list of Portuguese exhibitors will count with an 100m2 exhibition area to demonstrate what best is done in Portugal in the textile’s industry multiple areas, from the threads to the fabrics, meshes and accessories.

There are a total of 45 companies present in Paris under Selectiva Moda’s "From Portugal" project. To the Portuguese exhibitors, this fair represents a unique opportunity to advertise their world and, with that, conquer more customers. More than 50,000 visitors are expected at Première Vision Paris, among businesspeople, buyers and designers from around the world.

"It's the most important event of its kind. Our participation is an opportunity to consolidate markets and to present our products to new customers", explains Sara Pinto, commercial director of NGS Malhas, one of the Portuguese companies present at the “Fabrics” pavilion. Along the same line, Alexandra Oliveira, the representative of Grupo Bordados Oliveira, highlights Paris’ attractiveness: "the fair’s location allows visitors from multiple countries and this is a very prestigious fair".

The event notoriety makes Portugal’s extensive representation even more important and an ever bigger source of pride. "The fair’s participation is a privilege, not a right. We’re talking about the fair with the highest number of top visitors", explains Luís Marques, Etexba’s CEO.
In this edition of Première Vision Paris, the Portuguese companies will present the fall/winter collections for 2019 and 2020, and one of the great highlights goes to the wool sector, where Portugal is represented by Trend Burel, the Manteiga’s company from that produces 100% Portuguese wool fabrics.

Precisely because it’s considered one of the most important international events, exhibitors prepare with special care their products presentation. Afonso Duarte, J. Caetano & Filhas’ commercial director, already has scheduled meetings. "Europe and North America are the main markets" the company hopes to conquer with a great clothing presentation: "Shirts, Blouses, Dresses, Skirts and Shorts in various materials: Cotton, Viscose, Flax, Wool, between others".

In the accessories market, the Portuguese delegation also hopes to surprise with the launch of several new products. "We bet on the presentation of new techniques, pleats – that are now very fashionable – and a whole variety of accessories", says Silvina Ribeiro, Envicorte’s manager. In the same sector, Idepa hopes to conquer new markets for its labels, ribbons and other accessories collection: "We invested in the power of technology and in the power of the brain. New materials, new designs, new solutions, everything to help our customers show their best", explains Yessica Filipe, from the company's marketing department.

All the "From Portugal" entourage is presenting new collections. It’s the case of Luís Azevedo & Filhos, a textile company from Braga, who is already anticipating the fall / winter and spring / summer 2019 collections. "The expectation is great because the collection is being very successful", says Sílvia Azevedo, the company’s representative. Albano Morgado will also present a new collection. "We highlight a range products, like the plaited shirts and the clothing articles made in wool’s natural color, without chemicals integration”, says Belmira Rodrigues, the company's French market manager.

The circular economy promises to be one of the fair’s themes and Portugal wants to show that it’s prepared for this new era. "There is great market aptitude for recycled and sustainable materials as well as their production”, says Ricardo Ferreira, SIENA’s CEO. Maria Sá, Lurdes Sampaio’s CEO, emphasizes the same:" We bet strongly on new mixes and different structures, using recycled and organic fibers, a bet that represents already 60% of our products."

Sustainable materials will also be highlighted in LMA’s stand. Especially directed to technical products, the Santo Tirso’s company will assume the "Eco Consciousness" as one of its main mottos and hopes to attract clients from new markets. "We are presenting new collections, to show what we have. Of course, we expect to attract new customers, especially from the North European market and New York Brands", said Alexandra Araújo, the company's manager.

With Portugal at the center of attention, the Portuguese exhibitor at Première Vision Paris expect promising contacts to increase Portuguese exports. The fair is seen as a launching pad for internationalization, especially by the companies that are participating for the first time, is like RDD Textil and R.Lobo. "We are very proud to have been admitted by the fair’s selection committee and Première Vision will certainly contribute to RDD’s visibility in the international market", says Elsa Parente, the company’s Business Development Manager. "This is the largest textile and clothing international showcase," adds Carla Lobo, R.Lobo CEO. Avelana and Sedacor will also be participating in the event for the first time.

The Portuguese companies participation in Première Vision Paris is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies.
