CONNECTED TO THE EARTH

The call of the Earth is the key theme of the Portuguese trend forum The Portuguese Home Tex’Style, where 29 companies specialized in bed, table and bath lining are represented, in a showcase filled with quality and design aimed at the international markets, always with the “made in Portugal” guarantee.

The home textiles “made in Portugal” return to Frankfurt to show the most recent developments in house fashion. Besides the presence of 60 companies, specialized in bed, table and bath lining and renowned all over the word by its design and quality of materials, Portugal reveals the trends that will define the next seasons in the trend forum The Portuguese Home Tex’Style (stand 11.0 C49).

«We feel the call of the earth, the need to take the best of imperfections. It’s a season where consumers accept a greater conscience regarding the environment and the social impact that comes from reusing natural materials. Resources are beginning to scarce and it is indispensable to reuse. It’s the return to earth and to the valorization of what she can bring us», explains Joana Bourbon, manager of fashion & design at Citeve, the entity responsible for the trend forum. From quilts of A. Ferreira & Filhos and Têxteis Evaristo Sampaio, through the bedspreads of Piubelle, Têxteis Giestal and Têxteis Penedo, without forgetting the bath terry towels of Mundotêxtil, JMA Felpos, Têxteis JF Almeida and Villafelpos, the bed sheets of Sampedro or Sorema’s rugs, the whole house is represented in The Portuguese Home Tex’Style, in a colour palette inspired by Nature: greens from vegetation, greys from minerals, light browns from wood and a more rusty side such as bronze. «A current, comfortable and elegant mix of elements with distinct but complementary influences», justifies Joana Bourbon.

With an offer of superior quality and accustomed to produce for the most respected international brands and retailers, the Portuguese companies at Heimtextil are prepared for this first test of 2013. «Companies are confident for this first trade show of the year and expect not only to keep the clients that they already have but also to conquer new market segments. The Portuguese participation is a very important representation and at the Premium sector, in Hall 11, where is more than half of the national companies, the best stands, as usual, are those of Portuguese companies. The attitude in the beginning of this new year is positive and confident», says Paulo Vaz, vice-president of Associação Selectiva Moda.

For those who want to know the most recent developments in home textiles, the trend forum The Portuguese Home Tex’Style is a mandatory stopover at Heimtextil. The initiative, promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of European funds (Qren), under the project From Portugal, is part of a program of over 60 international actions planned for this year, that cover the entire textile and fashion chain, divided by four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
