PORTUGAL TAKES ONE OF THE LARGEST ENTOURAGES EVER TO MOMAD

Associação Between Parallels (which gathers nine brands), Cristina Barros, Concreto, Get In Vibe, Josefinas, Kalisson/Bagoraz, Marita Moreno, Marcial Martins, Marjocri and Scusi are the Portuguese companies that make up the FROM PORTUGAL delegation, which together with the iTechstyle Green Circle, will mark their presence at yet another edition of the Spanish fashion and accessories fair MOMAD, taking place from September 17th to 19th, in Madrid.

Considered an important fair in the fashion world, MOMAD returns to IFEMA from September 17th to 19th, and will count with the usual strong presence of the Portuguese companies. It’s the case of Marcial Martins that has been participating in the Spanish fashion fair since 2004, and has always achieved good results. “Spain is our main market and the feedback from MOMAD is always positive, even because the visitors are mainly Spanish and Portuguese”, considers Marcial Féliz, commercial director of the company, which at MOMAD will present its Spring Summer 2022 Collection.

Concreto, after attending trade shows in Munich and Paris, is now returning to Madrid, where it will present a youthful and colourful collection. “We are confident because the other fairs went well. However, it is necessary to contain expectations so that they do not come out too high and then defraud reality”, recalls Teresa Marques Pereira, CEO of the women's brand.

More optimistic is the sustainable brand Marita Moreno, who recalls that “in our two previous participations, the feedback was fantastic. In the first participation, we obtained the MOMAD Sustainability, Fashion and Business award, and that is why we were offered the stand for our second time. In that second participation, in February 2020, we attracted more than a dozen customers, which was great”, reveals Pedro Marinho, commercial director. Now participating for the third time, Marita Moreno will take its classic models, but also, adds Pedro Marinho, “new models with apple peel, cork, recycled rubber and other innovative materials for FW22/23”.

Making its absolute debut at international fair is the Association Between Parallels. “It is very important for us to show how sustainable are the Made in Portugal products, and MOMAD seemed to us the ideal fair due to its ecological component, and to the proximity to Portugal”, says Virgína França, chairman of the supervisory board of the Association, that in its space will have nine Portuguese brands showing the happy marriage between fashion and sustainability.

Also for the first time at MOMAD, the brand Josefinas, represented by Joana Esteves, retail manager, considers that “the fair is potentially interesting and a good place to start”. With eyes set on the Spanish market, which the brand wants to reach, Joana Esteves promises several novelties to be presented first hand at the Madrid fair.

Increasing brand awareness is Marjocri's main goal. To MOMAD, the company will take “our range of Handmade products, with natural and organic raw materials, more sustainable, and devoted to the comfort and well-being of those who use them”, enumerates Joana Moura, responsible for marketing and communication at Marjocri. “We intend to make our brand known in the Spanish market, take advantage of synergies, and of the geographic proximity to start the brand's internationalization process”, adds Joana Moura.

The iTechstyle Green Circle, a showcase that intends to show the innovations of Portuguese textiles in the field of sustainability, will demonstrate how Portugal is a pioneer in the circular economy processes. The innovation showcase organized by CITEVE and Selectiva Moda is devoted to fashion and uses only raw materials with relevant content in terms of sustainability and/or circular economy (Fibres, yarns, threads, ropes and other similar items; Fabrics, knits, Non-woven fabrics and other textile structures; Garments, home textiles or other manufactured products/components.)

The participation of Portuguese SME companies in MOMAD is framed by the From Portugal project, an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP - Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The “From Portugal” project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020 - Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, with an eligible support amount of € 11,042,311.82, of which € 6,065,501.91 comes from the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund.
