PORTUGUESE FASHION TRAVELS TO PARIS

There are 10 companies that form part of the delegation to two Parisian fashion fairs, Who’s Next and SIL Paris, which take place from 19 to 22 January, in the French capital. A highlight will be the visit of the Secretary of State for Internationalisation, Eurico Brilhante, who will visit the Portuguese stands at the Who’s Next fair on 19 January.

The Secretary of State for Internationalisation, Eurico Brilhante Dias, will visit the Portuguese stands at the Who’s Next fair on 19 January, on the invitation of ATP - Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal).

"Jazz and Sapeurs" is the theme for the January edition of Who’s Next, which takes place from 19 to 22 January. Over the four days of the exhibition, 600 brands will be present, among which stand out seven Portuguese companies – Blackspider by CristinaBarros – Concreto – CristinaBarros – Kalisson/Bagoraz/Le Cabestan – Luís Buchinho – Maloka/Paul Brial – Pé de Chumbo – supported by the Selectiva Moda Association, as part of the From Portugal internationalisation project.

For the Luís Buchinho brand, a regular presence at this event, Paris continues to be the best market. "In spite of the current drop in traffic, the brand has been growing since our first participation in the fair, with increasing visibility, also supported by the assistance and promotion by the fair managers and organizers. This continues to be our best market, with more and better results at the level of Luis Buchinho’s international expansion and invoicing", explains Carla Reis, the brand’s representative.

Specialising in women’s fashion, Maloka is presenting its collection for the next cold season in Paris. "Consolidating internationalisation and increasing our customer and orders portfolio are our main objectives", points out Felicidade Carvalho.

The Fall/Winter 18/19 collection will be the focus at the stand of the Pé de Chumbo brand, which has participated more than 20 times in this event. "We have been participating in this fair since 2007, and it is visited by the majority of our clients, which is why our presence here is mandatory. This is a very important market for us, representing 60% of the brand’s total sales", says Sérgio Rosa.

Also at the Port de Versailles, from 20 to 22 January, the first annual edition of the Salon International de La Lingerie will be held, where the main trends in intimate apparel will be presented. Three made-in-Portugal companies will be there, with the support of Selectiva Moda Association: Cisne Branco – Confenix – Iora Lingerie.

A regular presence at this fair for 12 years, Iora Lingerie is presenting its winter collection, where robes, night dresses and women’s pyjamas will be in the spotlight. "This is a worldwide fair and the most comprehensive one. We wish to increase our turnover and improve the brand’s reputation", states Cristina Flores, the brand manager.

For the second time at SIL, Cisne Branco is presenting a collection that highlights the sublime polar regions. "Our participation is due to the fact that this is the world’s largest and most distinguished lingerie fair. We hope to attract new agents and clients, and to grow in the French market", explains Pedro Marques Pereira, the brand’s export manager.

There will also be two other companies present, Averse at the Who’s Next fair and at the SIL fair, Textimalhas.

The participation of 7 Portuguese companies at Who’s Next and of 3 Portuguese companies at another edition of Salon International de La Lingerie, is an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda and ATP – Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal 2017 project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation.
