PORTUGUESE FABRICS FLY OFF TO THE JAPANESE MARKET

Albano Morgado – Burel Factory – Fitecom – Lemar –  are the four Portuguese companies travelling to Tokyo to form part at yet another edition of Jitac, which runs from 17 to 19 October. The Portuguese participation in this event is an initiative of the Associação Selectiva Moda association, within the internationalisation project From Portugal.

Albano Morgado – Burel Factory – Fitecom – Lemar – are the ambassadors of "made in" Portugal, from 17 to 19 October, at another edition of the Jitac European Textile Fair. The venue for this edition will be Bellesalle Shibuya Garden. The Japanese market is growing and it has enormous potential, which makes it very appealing to Portuguese companies.

Burel Factory is a usual presence in the Japanese market. This time it takes 100% wool textiles to the Japanese market. For the Portuguese brand this is an important market “Japan was our first international market. This is the first country in which we were in international fairs, a strategy we’ve been pursuing. It all worked out very well, and that’s why we were able to establish some partnerships which we maintain until today. The choice of this market and this fair is the consolidation of all of the investment we are extremely proud of”, explains Romeu Lebres, the company’s marketing & communication manager.

In its second time exhibiting at the fair, Fitecom highlights, for the cold season next year, «textiles that are 100% virgin wool, Shetland type, lambswool type, Tweeds, virgin wool and blends with and without Lycra elastane, various special finishes for suits, jackets, trousers and skirts for men and women and special fabrics for uniforms». João Carvalho, CEO of the company, considers «the Japanese market to have a lot of potential for our products, and so we want to encourage direct contact with as many customers as possible and expand our market knowledge».

On the other hand, Lemar, an assiduous presence at this event, highlights in the collection it will exhibit «bathroom textiles that are plain, striped, squares, prints». Fátima Silva, management assistant of the company, says «This is a market that is growing, where we have a very interesting portfolio of clients. The main objective is to attract new contacts, but also to welcome existing clients in an attempt to increase sales».

Three other Portuguese companies will also exhibit at this fair: Gierlings Velpor, Riopele and Somelos Tecidos.

The participation of these 4 portuguese companies in Jitac was organised by From Portugal 2017, an initiative promoted by Selectiva Moda and ATP - Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal (Association of Textiles and Clothing of Portugal), which aims to promote the internationalisation of Portuguese companies in the fashion area. The From Portugal 2017 project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 - Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation. The value of eligible support totals EUR 12,422,824.75, of which EUR 6,815,741.00 is provided by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
