There is great interest in the Peruvian market. It is a country with 31 million habitants and an economy which has grown steadily in the last fourteen years, making it a very attractive market, in particular for its economic dynamism.

The Portuguese showcase at this trade fair focuses in particular on the area of home textiles, where five companies will be present - AMR | Portugal Home - Finera - Giestal Home Textiles - Lumatex - Valentini Bianco - presenting a wide range of bath, dining and bedroom products which stand out for their quality, innovation, sophisticated finishings and modern, contemporary design.

The industrial textile accessories sector is represented by Ribera, which is attending the trade fair for the second time, its primary objective being to find a local distributor. “We have identified Peru for two reasons, in particular: it is a country with a significant textile industry and also has the custom, even tradition, of using lace and embroidery on clothing. Our objectives mainly relate to identifying a local distributor who can market our products”, explains Andreas Falley, director of the company.

Lady Suzy, which specialises in the development and production of socks and tights, will be attending Expotextil Perú for the second year running. Among the products being showcased, highlight goes to tights for everyday wear where softness and comfort dominate and sublimated tights, always based on the latest colour and pattern trends. “The choice of this fair emerges from a perspective of seeking new markets. We have high expectations, given the proximity of some of the markets that we aim to reach” reveals Célia Macedo, the company's general manager.

Globalfios, which is making its debut in this market, specialises in sewing threads and is taking its “Safari” brand to Peru.

Made in Portugal fashion is represented by newcomer InKeri, which will be showcasing the main trends of the Spring/Summer collection. It is a collection characterised by a trendy attitude and excellent quality materials and manufacturing.

Expotextil Perú will open its doors for four days, with an exhibition area of 12 000 m2 and is expected to welcome around twenty four thousand visitors. The offerings of manufacturers and suppliers for the textile industry, as well as the conference and fashion show programme, make this a trade fair not to be missed.

The participation of Portuguese companies in Expotextil Perú, is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of EU funds (NSRF - COMPETE), under the From Portugal project, and is part of a series of more than 65 international activities planned for 2014, covering the entire textile and fashion industry, spread over four continents – Europe, Asia, Africa and America – with a total investment of 9 million euros.
