Innovation, design and quality are in the spotlight on the proposals of seven national brands that exhibit, at Maison&Objet, the luxury and the glamour of “made in Portugal” home textiles.


Portuguese brands Burel Factory, Home Concept, Lona, Devilla, Bianca, Têxteis Íris and TMcollection present, from September 5th to September 9th, in the most renowned and international salon of the City of Light dedicated to interior decoration, an offer full of creativity, sophistication and noble materials to well dress the house.

In an absolute première at Maison&Objet, Burel Factory offers a new range of blankets, called Mantecas, handmade and in 100% Portuguese wool, where technological tradition cross paths with creative innovation. «This wool is carded, spun and woven with know-how and technologies from the 19th century», emphasizes Isabel Costa, CEO of Saberes e Fazeres da Vila Lda, the company that holds the brand. Geometric, spring time, bold, vintage and timeless patterns are divided in five themes to seduce buyers from the four corners of the world.

On its side, Lona exhibits in Paris its proposals developed in the traditional fabric 100% cotton which lends its name to the brand, used in products so diverse such as chairs, bags and rugs, among others accessories and decoration articles. «Maison&Objet has an enormous importance in our strategy, because besides allow us to present our products to the world, given the dimension of the salon, we are able to obtain in loco the feedback from several markets. To us, this trade fair as become imperative», explains the administrator Joaquim Pinto.

At Home Concept, the new collection aims to inspire clients to create spaces where they feel they really belong. «Five new graphics compose the collection which, from satin to jacquard, all in 100% Egyptian combed cotton, keeps the design that our clients are already used to, does not neglects the ecological part nor the sustainability and, above all, respects the Home Concept client and its way of being, feeling and living», says brand manager Odília Costa. 

On the other side, Têxteis Íris, specialized in home textiles made in linen, including bed linen, bath linen, curtains and decoration fabrics, wants to keep surprising the French market, which «is already a great connoisseur and admirer of our products to the house», underlines commercial director Sérgio Mendes.

France is the second destination of Portuguese textile and apparel exports, after Spain, and registered in the first six months of 2014 an increase of 22.2% of its purchases, for a value close to 334 million euros. The French market also occupies the second place in the ranking of exports of “made in Portugal” home textiles, also after Spain, with the Portuguese companies of this sector selling in the first half of the year, according to data of the National Institute of Statistics, products valued in 46.7 million euros, mainly bed, table, bathroom and kitchen linen (over 44.3 million euros) and products to interior decoration in textile materials (more than 1.86 million euros).

The participation of these Portuguese companies at Maison&Objet is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of European funds (Qren), under the project From Portugal. This project includes more than 65 international actions planned for 2014, which cover the entire textile and fashion chain, divided by four continents – Europe, Asia, Africa and America – with a total investment of EUR 9 million.
