The IEC Expocentre in Moscow will be staging another edition of Techtextil Russia, a biennial event and the world's leading trade show for technical textiles, nonwovens and protective clothing. Three national companies are travelling from Portugal to make their debut at the trade show - ERT – Endutex – Lipaco – in a participation organised by Associação Selectiva Moda and it's partner Citeve.

The participation of CITEVE in Techtextil Russia follows a strategy defined by the Centre in promoting their service portfolio in alternative international markets to the European Union. «Among the services included in this promotional strategy are Tests & Trials, product certification, R&D and international consultancy, in particular in the following technical and functional textile markets: Protection & Safety, Automotive, Sports & Leisure. To date CITEVE has been a regular participant of Techtextil Frankfurt and Techtextil North America (Atlanta). Russia therefore becomes the third market in which CITEVE is participating as an exhibitor within the framework of the TECHTEXTIL trade show», explains Helder Rosendo, Citeve's Deputy General Manager.

ERT is taking various proposals from its major market areas to Moscow, namely mobility and consumer goods. Laminated product lines with membranes for application on clothing and footwear, flexible materials for covering protective equipment in motor sport, covers for child seats for bicycles and cars, are just a few of the highlighted items being showcased. «This trade show is part of our strategy to explore opportunities in large emerging markets. Our aim is to develop a more thorough knowledge of the Russian market, through the contacts that we hope to make at the trade show, seeking to identify potential clients to expand the business in Russia and neighbouring countries. Furthermore, because we consider it crucial for business development, to identify potential agents», reveals João Brandão, the company's CEO.

Lines with special finishes for the military sector and a display of PES and PA yarns, are some of the products taken by Lipaco to conquer the Russian market. «We chose this trade show because of its potential in terms of technical products and size», explains Jorge Pereira, the company's CEO. «We aim to assess the market and try to find an agent», he adds.

Techtextil Russia is an event that takes place every two years and in its last edition 192 exhibitors from 21 countries took part, showcasing their products to 4,150 professional visitors from 29 countries.

The participation of Portuguese companies in Techtextil Russia, is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of EU funds (NSRF), under the From Portugal project, and is part of a series of more than 65 international activities planned for 2014, covering the entire textile and fashion industry, spread over four continents – Europe, Asia, Africa and America – with a total investment of 9 million euros.
