Major Portuguese companies are at Shanghai presenting the best fabrics “made in Europe”, in an eclectic showcase where the irreprehensible quality and sophisticated design are the key elements for Spring-Summer 2015 collections, already demanded by renowned international fashion houses.

A Têxtil Serzedelo, Arco Têxteis, Gierlings Velpor, Lemar, Riopele, Somelos Tecidos, Teviz by Polopique and Troficolor show at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics fresh and joyful proposals for next year’s Spring-Summer, designed to meet the most demanding quality and design standards. Fabrics for shirts, pants and jackets, velvets, denim and even beachwear are part of this offer that, in each season, seduces clients such as Armani, Gucci, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Chanel.

Renowned by its revolutionary fabric Çeramica, with easy-care and wrinkle-free properties, Riopele has already convinced the major Chinese luxury brands. «We’re selling for high range clients», unveils Riopele’s president, José Alexandre Oliveira, who underlines that «the prizes that Riopele won on the last edition of the trade fair had a very positive impact in the company’s image and inclusive on the sales for China». The position of this specialist in several fabrics in the Chinese market also made possible to find new clients in each edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. «The desire of our clients in China is the same of Riopele: sell/buy the best fabrics», sums up the president.

Also with major luxury names in its clients’ portfolio, Somelos Tecidos embodies as well the excellence of the production “made in Europe” in shirting fabrics. «There is a clear craving of the Chinese market for sophisticated European fabrics», confirms Tiago Guimarães, administrator of Somelos Tecidos, which has opened a subsidiary in Hong Kong back in 2009. In its eclectic and worldly collection for Spring-Summer 2015 fabrics with micrographics and textures, such as English knit, are on the spotlight.

On its side, Lemar, known by its emblematic yarn dyed stripes for beachwear, offers in this edition of the world’s biggest trade fair for fabrics, «a sophisticated collection, with noble raw materials», says company’s CEO, Manuela Araújo. After having conquered major fashion capitals, like New York, London, Milan and Paris, Lemar has greater expectations for Shanghai. «We have a new agent for the Chinese market since last Intertextile and, therefore, we are very excited for this edition, since we are stronger on Spring-Summer», explains the CEO.

The participation of these Portuguese companies at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, which takes place March 3rd - 5th, is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda with the support of European funds (Qren), under the project From Portugal. This project includes more than 65 international actions planned for 2014, which cover the entire textile and fashion chain, divided by four continents – Europe, Asia, Africa and America – with a total investment of EUR 9 million.
