From 5-9 February, the Spanish capital will be the venue for yet another edition of the Intergift trade fair. The main players in the Spanish and international home textiles market will be showcased, with special highlight to the Portuguese committee attending the event - Artegui – Dilina – Renaitex – Rio Sul – Sun City Ibérica – Têxteis Íris – with the support of Associação Selectiva Moda, within the scope of the From Portugal internationalisation project.

The Portuguese home textile specialist companies will be travelling to Madrid, to showcase the main trends in the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and tableware lines to name just a few, presenting a varied range of options when it comes to home furnishings and décor. Innovation and differentiation are the main characteristics of made-in Portugal products.

The Feria de Madrid opens its doors for five days to welcome over 930 exhibitors, including 6 Portuguese companies - Artegui – Dilina – Renaitex – Rio Sul – Sun City – Têxteis Íris – which are part of the From Portugal internationalisation project, an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda, with the support of European funding (NRSF).

Artegui, which is in Madrid for the second time, hopes to repeat the successful results of the last edition. «Our participation in the last edition went well, we received positive feedback from clients in regard to our products. We are investing in this market again, not just because of the economic indicators, but also because of its geographical proximity», says Rui Castro, Sales Director for the company. A number of novelties will be on display, «we are going to present new designs in home textiles, in line with our identity, as well as introduce new products, with a view to providing greater choice for our clients», he reveals.

Sun City is part of the area of products under licence and is making its debut at the trade fair. «Intergift was chosen because of the need to promote Sun City Iberica and its products in the Spanish market as well as to create a closer relationship with current clients», states Filipa Silva, Commercial Assistant for the company. Highlight goes to the ELI 2014 collection, composed of a variety of items, from mugs, cutlery, poufs and cushions. There are a number of novelties in the textile articles, such as backpacks and umbrellas. «We are certain that our participation will be very productive and help to consolidate Sun City's image in Spain, as well as the increasingly strong positioning it has as market leader in licence products in the Iberian Peninsula», adds Filipa Silva.

According to the latest data on International Commerce provided by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Portuguese Textile and Clothing Industry, until November 2013, had exported 3 935 million Euros, i.e. an increase of 3.5% against the same period a year earlier. In terms of products exported, made-up textile articles, which include home textiles continued to perform well, with growth of over 10%.

The participation of Portuguese companies in Intergift is an initiative promoted by Associação Selectiva Moda, with the support of European funds (NSRF), within the From Portugal project, and is part of a series of more than 65 international activities planned for 2014, covering the entire textile and fashion sector, spread over four continents - Europe, Asia, Africa and America - with a total investment of 9 million Euros.
